Margaret Mary (McCarthy) Murtha passed away on April 1st, 2023. Margaret was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Nursing School and became a life-long nurse. She worked with geriatric patients and patients with dementia throughout her career. Wherever she worked, Margaret was well-liked and made good friends! Margaret was known as ‘Peggy’ for most of her life.
She grew up in Pawtucket but also lived in New Jersey for a period of years helping her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Rhianna and Ryan, more than anything.
Margaret loved reading mystery/thriller novels and listening to Irish music. She loved watching CBS soap o peras and cooking shows – especially Emeril! She also was able to travel to Ireland twice, which was a highlight in her life.
Margaret was married to Daniel Murtha, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Murtha) Blazy of Burlington, New Jersey, Son-in-Law Martin Blazy, grandchildren Rhianna Blazy and Ryan Blazy from Burlington, New Jersey and her two sisters, Catherine McCarthy and Eleanor McCarthy, both of Pawtucket.
In lieu of flowers, friends & family may make donations to the Dementia Society of America. (dementiasociety.org)
